Accessibility

Building accessibility

Many of our historic buildings are difficult to access with stepped entrances and poorly lit spaces in some areas. We have produced a PDF document outlining the known accessibility issues at the venues that are open for our 2024, which can be found here: York Unlocked Accessibility Document 2024.docx Accessibility information about each venue can also be found on our app.

Website Accessibility

Measures to support accessibility

To ensure accessibility, York Unlocked takes the following measures:

Accessibility Standards

  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff: Ongoing training helps our staff understand and implement accessibility best practices.

York Unlocked aims to comply with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. WCAG defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
